Helping the Homeless Veteran and Single Parent Families
Mrs. Jones opened United Threads, a housing non-profit in 2018 to directly be able to help the homeless Veterans and Single Parent families in her area, and eventually nationwide. She opened a thrift shop where all donated items were to be resold for between $1 and $10 to raise money to purchase condemned, abandoned, and dilapidated homes to restore them and move homeless people directly off of the streets into their new home.
Unfortunately the store location had to close due to severe leaking from the ceiling, and a court battle with the building owner/slumlord where the judge ultimately ruled in their favor after taking the case for further consideration. Despite the evidence presented, showing the lack of fairness for small business owners in the legal system. Opening a store space is still planned but help is needed.
